COOK IMAGING

The Day of the Shoot

Generally speaking, I shoot pictures of the property as it is when I find it.  Occasionally, for the sake of composition, I may move a plant here or a chair there.  I will put everything back the way I found it.

Cook Imaging specializes in a method of photography that utilizes all available light to produce balanced, properly exposed images that capture the true look and feel of the space. No additional lighting or setup is required which is helpful to quickly move through a property. To maximize available light, window shades will be open and all lighting fixtures will be utilized. Time of day is most often not of concern for interior photography, however the orientation of the front of the property will be a deciding factor for the best time to take exterior shots.

That said, the property should be in a condition to be photographed.  For real estate agents, you already know what this means.  For those of you using my services that are not Realtors, here are a few helpful hints:

  • Clean up clutter.  Less is more when it comes to nice photos.
  • Put away as many personal items such as family photos as you see fit.
  • Remove personal items from showers and bath tubs, as well as bathroom vanities.
  • Make sure all light bulbs and light fixtures are working properly. Mismatched light bulb color will be quite noticeable in the final images so replace as necessary. Contact me if you have questions about light bulb color temperatures.
  • For exterior pictures, make sure the yard is looking nice.
  • In a retail setting, make sure racks and/or shelves are nicely organized.
  • For overnight rentals and hotels/motels, simply make sure the property is prepared as it would be for the next guest.
